Jonver, Me, and Cariza

Who would have known that what started out as a joke on Twitter between 3 bloggers would eventually turn into a reality. The Bookworm Brigade was that joke; an idea of sharing books between fellow book lovers and voracious readers alike. It's amazing how people can get together and meet new friends through the power of books! It just shows that books really do take you to places.

Last June 30, 2012, Jonver, Cariza, and I turned Moonleaf Maginhawa into a mini book sale. People from all over Manila and beyond gathered for one day of books, friends, and a cup of Moonleaf tea. I honestly thought there would only be a few who would go but the turn out of people who supported our cause was amazingly many! It's just really inspiring to see and meet people who share the same passion as you.

Another awesome thing is that we were able to share books not only with fellow book lovers but also with children who don't have any books at all! To all those who donated books for Global Shapers, thank you, thank you, and thank you so much! It's insane how people can get together and do something good for people who need help. And the good thing is, it won't be the last Bookworm Brigade! We've talked with some people from Moonleaf and it looks like we're going to make this a monthly thing! So if I were you, you better get your books ready because the next one is definitely going to be soon! Watch out for it and I can assure you it's going to be more awesome than ever.

"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me."
C. S. Lewis

But if that was tea from Moonleaf, C.S. Lewis might take back his words. HAHAHA

Thanks to Moonleaf for supporting our cause!

The Bookworm Brigade

Reading books have always been one of my favorite past times and I would go to pretty much any length just to get a good read. My close friends know that I always have to check out book stores and leave me there to wander for hours. There is something about reading books that seem to take over your imagination and steal you from reality to a world that is very much unlike our own. So when Jonver, Cariza, and I had the idea to have some sort of book trading event, I knew that I simply cannot resist it. And with that, we give to you The Bookworm Brigade.

When: June 30, 11 AM to 4 PM
Where: Moonleaf Maginhawa
Why: To trade, share, donate, read, and everything else related with books of course!

It's just simple, just bring books - either you wanna share, sell, or trade. Then let's have some tea!

Bookswap - Swap your books with fellow bookworms. Get a new book and a new friend too!

Booktrade - You can sell your books here! Up to 100 Pesos only!

Bookdrive
- Bring educational books (school books, text books, reviewers, children's books) that we can donate after! These will be donated in partnership with Global Shapers by Anna Oposa.

Books free-for-all - A place to give away your old books and a place to get a new one!

I do hope that you guys would support this event since I truly believe in the power of books. And who knows, you might get new friends from here!
