Theya's 19th: No More Sober Club

The debut was held at the Blue Leaf in McKinley Hill. Shushal.

Renz, Ashley and Nicole.
Marj and Andrew. He won Best Dressed! And 3k. WOW.

Me with the blurry debutante.
With the one and only Nicole The Dressup Doll. HAHA

Me. With the boys.

Ian and Wei, the Red Boys.HAHA

I love this photo. First shot of the night (and first of the twenty shots. HAHAHA) and the light perfectly hits my face. It's as if the shot is spreading to my face. Naks naman.

The friends with this cute Atenean guy. And he's 6 feet high! Or even higher! And he's only 3rd yr. high school. WHOA.
Nike's and Toms.

Military boots? Why not.

Heels. The party staple.

And of course, me, after the fifteenth shot. I think. Sitting on the dancefloor, acting like a goof head. Or did I just get up from tripping? I dunno. HAHAHA
What I wore:

Blazer from Christian Dior. My dad's, back then.
Polo from Zara

Necktie from Pierre Cardin. My dad's too.
Jeans from Bench
Brogues from my dad. Everything from my dad! HAHA
And my shoes! These gorgeous vintage brogues. I love it to bits. Very 50's.
I went to this Theya Hall's mafia-themed debut last, last Saturday at The Blue Leaf in McKinley Hill. The place was amazing! Red and white feathers adorned the tables while red napkins lined the table tops. Everyone looked so posh! The guys were in suits while the girls were in these flapper-inspired dresses. It was like living in the 50's; only more modern and more stylish, I guess.

It was an amazing night! And it was actually my first time to drink. Like really drink. Not the pa-tweetums type of drinking. What started out as one shot turned into twenty. Looks like there will be no more sober club for us. HAHAHA. But seriously, I had a great night.

It turns out we went to Amber afterwards. But I only remembered because there was a bar stamp on my left wrist when I woke up in the morning. And seeing the photos in my camera was like looking at the credits of a Hangover movie. Whoa. Like really, whoa.

Now that's what I call a party.

In Streaks of Blue and White

Stud bracelet and slim belt bracelet from Divisoria
Rope bracelet handmade by my friend
Studded wrap-around bracelet from Greenhills
Watch is a gift from a friend

Sneakers from Converse x PLAY Comme Des Garcons

I wore this to several meetings a few days ago. I was with my brother for the Soleil Bazaar, went to my mom's office afterwards. Then after that, I went to Gateway to meet with some old friends and grab a cup or two of coffee. The day was really nice.

As for the outfit, I wore my fave striped sweater from Dean and Trent. It's v-neck so it kinda looks sexy but it has long sleeves so you can wear it for cold times. And it's perfect because it's not that thick. Like seriously. I think every guy should have this all around v-neck sweater that you can easily convert accdg. to the weather. Hot noons? Roll up sleeves. Chilly nights? Let it down. Easy.

The gray wool blazer is also my definite fave because it gives this very preppy appeal to most of my outfits. Makes it more formal. It's a bit thick for the Manila weather but hey, fashion can be uncomfortable sometimes.

Wore this look with sneakers and lots of accessories to dress it down. I think accessories can really make or break your outfit. And when it comes to accessories, I usually pair it with the same or complementary color of maybe my shirt or pants. Or both. It's your call, really.

And of course, the gold aviators. Goes with anything, really. But it goes really well with something striped blue and white. Nautical love.

Varsity Blues

I'm not a big fan of varsity jackets ever since it boomed here in Manila. Ever since the varsity jacket, a once forgotten classic, became a staple in the music scene and fashion scene here and abroad, the humble school spirit artifact popped up in department stores to local brands then to the cheaper outlet stores and finally, the market scene in Divisoria. I have nothing against that, though. But when something really good, like the varsity jacket, becomes to mainstream, it loses its appeal. Bad jackets made of shiny satin and polyester garters and horribly embroidered names on the back began appearing on stalls in tiangges and markets. I sound like a hater but honestly, the lack of quality products is getting annoying.

However, when I saw these images from Tommy Ton's photo blog on Style.com, I began to rethink how varsity jackets should be worn. The problem with the Manila style scene is that they take trends and let trends dictate them. I'll post a separate blog entry for this though.

Enough with the hate. Can I just say? The way these girls worked the varsity jacket is just on the spot. I swear. And the good thing is, they don't like the mannequins of Zara or Forever 21. You can totally see their own style and personality; the twist they put on clothing. And that is why I love Tommy Ton; he knows what good personal style is and he knows how to capture it accordingly.

Motorcycle Mania

I was checking out Tommy Ton's coverage for street style this recent fashion week. While I was browsing through his photos, I noticed that there are some street style trends that seem to be more prominent than the others. One of these trends is the motorcycle jacket.

The classic black leather motorcycle jackets made several appearances. But thanks to the creativity of some designers and the fabulous taste of our foreign fashionista friends, we see the motorcycle jacket reinterpreted in many ways. From furry, quilted, and patched to the the colorful, bleached and rugged, it seems that this staple piece is not just for the road anymore; the streets are the new highways and the motorcycle jacket is the fuel for the fashion fastlane.
