Into The Woulds

Yesterday, the family and I went to Tagaytay to make the most of the long weekend that started last Saturday. It feels great to be able to roll down the windows of the car and not smell the smoke that usually greets my nose in Manila. Ah, the smell of fresh pine trees; it's euphoric, really. And the great thing about going out of town is the dressing up part! Since it's a bit colder up there, I donned something thicker and cozier than I usually would in the city. I wanted a no-fuss look so I grabbed my favorite striped sweater and brown pants (my other jeans were in the laundry nyahaha), to my regret, a pair of white sneakers from Converse x PLAY CDG; my personal favorite. 

We went to Picnic Grove and expected lots of people to be there. True to our expectations, hoards of people went around in groups. It was actually hard taking an outfit shot since there would always be photobombers everywhere. HAHA. But really. And the last time we were there, we really got good shots. Check here! However, when we got to the same place, we found two lovers laying in the grass where we were suppose to take photos. Awkward. Really. In the end, we had to look for another place. We found somewhere really nice but... would we do it?

It really was a question of will power since it was somewhere risky; the perimeter of the forest grounds were fenced and it was incredibly slippery. Would we do it in the woods? I guess to be able to do great things, one would have to go out of their comfort zone, take risks, and just do it. Worked for us. Really nice photos, don't you think?

Would you do what it takes to do great things? Even if it was as simple as taking a good outfit shot.

Pacific Chic

I know this post is basically not in season since it's technically raining all over Manila at the moment. However, I think a nice reminder of how awesome the sun is might be good for everyone! I had these outfit shots last summer. But for some reason, my laptop refused to show it to me until now. Weird, I know.

We went to this obscure beach somewhere in the Quezon province during our stay there last April. As you can see, it was gloriously sunny that day and wearing pants was just not an option. So I did the usually unthinkable; and that's to wear shorts! I never wear shorts when I go out. I have hideous legs. Really. I'd like it snuggled under breath-restraining skinny jeans usually. But since the occasion called for something more relaxed, I had to let that go and do my thing. Nyahaha. And I totally not regret it!

The shirt is a favorite of mine. It's a shirt from a collaboration between Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and PLAY x Comme Des Garcons. It was originally long sleeves but I didn't like it so I had the sleeves cut off. Also, the blue and white stripes just got me! Shorts are from Ralph Lauren, straw hat from Zara, gold aviators from Divisoria (ha! Cheap yeah!) and bag is obviously from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Pop Street

Aivan Magno, the genius behind these shirts!

Aivan, Nicole, and I had a shoot (and a very spontaneous one at that. HAHA) a few weeks ago somewhere in Ortigas near Megamall. We were wearing these amazing pop art shirts sold by Aivan which is really cool, by the way. During the Super Sale Bazaar, a month ago, the shirts were a huge hit so we thought, why not shoot a totally awesome street style look with it! It was a brilliant idea, honestly. And that idea, I present to you now.

The shirts were printed with pop art from Roy Lichtenstein, I believe. I'm a huge fan of his work, honestly. Some people who love pop art mention Andy Warhol as their favorite. But Roy's is my personal pick. His choice of colors and use of bold shapes just gets the life out of me. And to have a shirt that has something inspired by Roy was just seriously cool.

I was thinking of a way to give the photos that pop art appeal. So I thought of desaturating the background and letting our outfits pop out! A pretty ingenious idea, actually. Did the post-processing too. I think it might have been a bit too much but I guess pop art really does pop!

Cool for School

I wore this outfit to the Alcatel One Touch launch in Bella Ibarra several weeks ago. From my usual outfits, this has to be one of my chillest outfits since I came straight from school and went back. The navy blue sweater,one of my favorites, is speckled with gold flicks all over. And the thing I like the most about it is it shimmers in the light; like an Edward! HAHAHA If you know what I mean. 

Basically, this is how I would look like in school since we also wear white polos as our uniform. I guess this look minus the OS bone tie. It just shows that you can still be chic in school; even in a uniform.

Super Sale Bazaar: The Outfits

 Day 1

I needed a look that can easily be transformed into my uniform for school since I had to go to class by 5 PM that day. So I looked for a white polo and put on my usual black jeans and boots. The olive green military jacket just went so well with the boots and aviators! Very military chic which I don't really do much often. The crown of thorns also made an appearance since it complimented the gold aviators I was donning. I think I might have been inspired by Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" and "Black Jesus (Amen Fashion)". Very appropriate, don't you think?

 Day 2

Decided to mix brown and blue today! It was a bit hot on the way to WTC so I put on my favourite PLAY shirt which was a collaboration between Comme Des Garcons and Matt Groening. The brown pants plus the brown brogues pretty much completed my look. The blazer from Zara came as an after thought since it was cold inside the tent. By the way, I made the star-studded blue leather wrap myself! I can be a bit of a craftsman sometimes when I'm bored. And can I just say? These vintage brogues are just fabulous. The scuff marks and the patina looks even better in person.

Day 3

For the third day, I opted to wear something a bit darker than usual. Got my denim shirt on with my fave motorcycle jacket. And here's a trivia: this is the very first jacket that got me hooked into jackets. Really! I had it since I was 2nd year high school and it has been borrowed by no less than 20 people already. I love it to bits. Anyways, the OS black bone tie really went well with my dark themed outfit so I had to put it on. The usual black jeans and the Doc Martens made it look tough, I think. I also put on two watches because I always find myself running out of time. So why not wear two watches? HAHAHA Kidding. I have always loved the appeal of multiple watches ever since I saw Giovanna Battaglia wear it. It's a personal touch, really. The LA fitted hat really "capped" the look for me. Now if only I could wear leather in this weather, I'd be a really happy kid.

Mountain Blues

Nothing beats a day out of the city after a week of pure stress and scholastic obligations. The family surprised me and the siblings with a trip to our place in Batangas and then a side trip to Tagaytay. It's amazing how a few hours out of the city can rejuvenate a tired soul.

The thing about these trips is that we get to dress up and it gives me an opportunity to document my outfits more since I can't really take photos of mine on a daily basis. So I go all out. And it's also these times that I get some of the best photos; photos that I can honestly say are really pretty. 

As for my outfit, I wore a chambray polo from Gap Kids in XL size (HAHA), my fave navy blue shorts from Ralph Lauren and a grey cardigan from my father's closet. The white Bally shoes are also one of my favorite things that came from my dad's closet. I love how my outfit gives of that preppy resort type of vibe which I really tried pulling off; and pulled off I did.
