Style Origins: Brands

 

As I said in my last blog post, I watched the Men's Wear Collection in Ayala's Style Origins at Trinoma a few days ago. Brands such as Florsheim, Van Heusen, Swatch, Izod, Debenhams, Topman, Sperry, Mundo , Maldita Man, and Celio with Pedro shoes featured their new season collections in a fashion show that combined downtown dressing with stylish pieces that are appropriate for the Manila weather. I loved Topman's collection and Mundo's collection because my personal style leans to their aesthetic and design concept more. A mix of preppy and casual with a dash of color. Something I would definitely wear!

Oh. And one more thing. Aside from Enchong Dee, rising star Joseph Marco also walked the ramp in a blazer that is just beyond! I wish I knew who designed it though. Props to him or her!

Cariza invited me to attend the Style Orgins Fashion Show held in Trinoma's Activity Center yesterday, May 5. It was such an amazing show! Several brands showed their current season as well as several menswear designers featuring their capsule collections. Designers M Barretto and Norman Noriega showed a comprehensive collection which received oohs and aahs from the crowd. It was definitely jaw-dropping!  I heard Nixon Marquez was suppose to show a collection but someone told me he was out of the country. Oh well, I bet he has a great one nevertheless. Hopefully I could see it soon!

I was with Cariza and Jonver throughout the show. After the event, we all headed out to the famous Moonleaf Maginhawa. We all grabbed some milk tea and talked so much! It's amazing how you can be totally awkward with people at first then be friends with them at the end of the day. We had so much fun and  definitely, this should not be the last.

Second day in the province and I badly wanna go home. HAHA Kidding. Thank god we're staying at this hotel-slash-restaurant that's livable. Yep, livable. Not entirely luxurious but I can totally live with that. And besides, we're the only ones checked in. So yeah, woot woot!

On that day, (if I remember it well. haha) we attended the annual procession around town. It's quite tiring and stressful, ugh. But nevertheless, I enjoyed mingling with the people from the province. They seem to be really interested on the things I'm wearing. Which is weird for me, honestly speaking.

I wore this blue solid colored polo over a tribal shirt to balance it out. Makes each other stand out. And since my wardrobe is limited, I have to use these pants and boots all over again. Oh well. But why red and blue? Because I love red and blue! Blue, especially.

The good thing about being in the province is you will never run out of places to take good photos. I mean, these photos were taken just behind the church! Crazy, I know! Almost looks like a forest. LOL

But then again, I was in the province. There are more trees than houses. Just sayin'.

For the past month, April, obviously, I've been very busy! I went to the province, did several shoots (which I'll be posting soon enough) and went to so many places! April has been an amazing month for me and hopefully May will be! So apologies for the month-long hiatus.

On the second week of April, we went to the province to celebrate the Holy Week. And when I say province, I mean proooovince! It's a 7-hour drive away from Manila my love. Lots of fields, nipa huts and carabaos. LOL. But I think the fresh air did a lot of good stuff for me. Made me feel cleaner. Even if it's only on the inside. CHOS. 

Day 1. This is what I wore. It was pretty hot that day and jeans were definitely not an option. The straw hat was a summer staple, obviously. But it was also there to cover my disastrous hair. HAHA 

There are so many fields where my parents come from so we just HAD to shoot there. And it's amazing having an audience of chickens and cows watching while you pose in the middle of a rice field. Yihee! Insane, I know!

The last shot we took in an abandoned school. Really cool place to shoot in the morning, really scary place at night. HAHAHA

Annuale Live 2012

Last March 28, I got invited to watch SDA's Annuale Live 2012. The show featured SDA's most promising talents in different fileds such as production design, dance, music, fashion design, animation, and lots more. It was truly a great show! Really! And it's quite amazing to see what other art schools can offer. 

There was never a dull moment. It's more of a variety show actually! And you never know what's next. It was a dance number, then a choir presentation then a film showing then something next! What really struck me was that it was a celebration of talent; something we don't see very much in CFAD. You can totally tell how they have no artistic limitations.

People who know me very well are aware that I wanted to shift to CSB but I feel like I wanna finish my course here in UST first. CSB SDA's atmosphere is more appropriate for artists. I dunno, there's something in their air. You can easily express yourself there without getting your ID taken. LOL. But then it had me thinking.

I just wish CFAD was more artistically understanding.  I hope CFAD becomes a place where you can foster creative growth and not restrain it.

As for the show, bravo, SDA! Bravo indeed. 

Now when will CFAD have a show like this? HAHA
