Monotone

I have always loved the allure of black and white photos; especially ones with just the right amount of grain. It gives off that nostalgic feel; of memories gone by and time passed. It's amazing how photos can contain the emotions of people, freeze a smile in time, and preserve a memory in just a snap of a shutter.

Drama aside, I thought about posting these photos because I don't want these snapshots to rot unseen in my hard drive. I personally think people should take photos of other things beside themselves because you never know what you're going to get sometimes. It's also a good outlet for creativity. And you don't have to be a professional photographer. Sometimes, a hobbyist can take just as good photos. You never know, it just might be the thing you're going to be good at.

Cool for School

I wore this outfit to the Alcatel One Touch launch in Bella Ibarra several weeks ago. From my usual outfits, this has to be one of my chillest outfits since I came straight from school and went back. The navy blue sweater, one of my favorites, is speckled with gold flicks all over. And the thing I like the most about it is it shimmers in the light; like an Edward! HAHAHA If you know what I mean.

Basically, this is how I would look like in school since we also wear white polos as our uniform. I guess this look minus the OS bone tie. It just shows that you can still be chic in school; even in a uniform.

Thanks to Nicole for the outfit shots!

Chris Tiu's message to the people who came. He was out of the country when the event happened.

Photographers trying to get a shot of the celebrities who went to the launch.

There were many celebrities who came! Gorgeous people. Really.

The question and answer portion! Was too shy to ask questions. HAHA

I was invited by a dear friend of mine to attend the Alcatel One Touch launch in Bella Ibarra, a really nice events place near Quezon Avenue. The place was filled with different personalities from both the showbiz world and the blogging world. The food was good, the people were better, but of course, the new Alcatel phones were the best feature of the day!

With new smart phones dominating the mobile industry, it's high time that Alcatel launch their own range of smart phones at an affordable price! Smart phones usually come with a hefty price tag; but not Alcatel's. The thing that I like about these phones is the fact that they are both inexpensive and stylish without losing their function as a smart phone; a rare combination nowadays. And I'm sure people out there are looking for good smart phones that are good for the wallet too. Make the smart choice; get Alcatel One Touch phones now!

Be sure to check out Alcatel's website here

A Date For Three

Nicole and Aivan. They look like a couple, really. HAHAHA KIDDING.

Mirror shot. Great photobombing by Nicole Santos. Lol.

These are the fabulous sesame seeds grinder of Yabu. The smell is just heavenly.

Ordered their Rosu Katsudon Special. And the cabbage salad is just pure love!

Wacky faces.

Not your usual traffic-infested Ortigas streets.

Bloggers in action. HAHA!

Aivan snacking on a donut while trying to get Wi-Fi connection.

The magazines won't read itself, you know.

Nicole, also desperate for Wi-Fi. HAHAHA

The obligatory group shot. Smile!

Last July 19, Nicole, Aivan, and I planned on having lunch at Yabu in The Atrium at Megamall. Kelly was suppose to go with us but wasn't able to because he had work that day, unfortunately. We also planned to shoot Aivan's new line of pop art shirts that are seriously awesome, really. The day was long and the sun was behind the clouds; the day couldn't be more perfect.

Ordered loads of cabbage salad from Yabu. Really, it's the only place that can make me finish my veggies. Honest! Then after lunch, we went to the overpass near St. Francis Square to do the shooting. The whole thing was spontaneous, unplanned, but totally exciting. People were staring, no doubt. We actually thought the guards would restrain us from continuing the shoot, but lo and behold, they did not! Then I remembered,  we were not in Makati. HAHAHAHA.

After a few minutes of shooting, we decided to grab donuts since all three of us started running low on camera battery. Chilled in J. Co Donuts while they were scouting for Wi-Fi. Never really continued the shoot after wards. HAHA. But it was a fun day nevertheless.

Will post the product of our shoot soon!

Three Cheers for Cheap Thrills

As many people (I think many are. Lol ) are aware, I used to spend a lot on clothes. Like, a lot. And since my parents encourage saving up for something we like, I'd usually have to spend days of filter feeding and water dieting back in high school just to be able to buy shoes from Topman or those nice shirts from Zara. It was no easy task. The benefits were great though; we got skinny as a result. Back in the days, if you were gay and skinny, you're fabulous. So we, the skinny bitches, would go shopping for stuff and look great at the same time; it's a win-win situation. Or if I'm lucky, I'd get sent all these fabulous jackets by my aunts from abroad; even if the jackets were meant for countries that lie on the northern hemisphere. It was a comfort disadvantage but definitely a style advantage. And a popularity raiser too. I remember having one of my motorcycle jackets being borrowed by my friend in the other section. After recess, it would be in another section. It's the same case after lunch. I'd have to trace my jacket not only in other sections, but also in the other batches for safe measure. But that was in high school. And with the price of fashion getting higher than my allowance, I had to find a way to sustain my craving for new pieces without sacrificing a whole week's worth of recess and lunch.

Then someone introduced me to thrift stores. Oh God, the glory of thrift stores! Where have they been all my life? I was actually reluctant at first; the shops made me sneeze like hell and wreaked of old clothes. But once I spotted the vintage Givenchys and the old Diors among the Bossini pants and Chinese clothes, I was sold! It found it insane and mind-boggling how these fabulous clothes end up in places like this. I felt like I was rescuing long forgotten luxury and bringing them back to life. It was surreal.

So now, what I'll do is share these fabulous finds and maybe inspire those people who think that fashion has to be expensive to be fabulous; not that it isn't true, but then again, a cheaper alternative is always better. I'll be posting stuff I found that's sure to inspire the fashion adventurer in you to dive in to the experience and maybe, just maybe, get awesome stuff like I do.

I got these boots from a thrift store near SM Centerpoint. I remember squealing in delight when I saw them. I was eyeing these particular boots on mrporter.com, a website that's basically my dream closet. These are around $200 on the website. I got to haggle it from 700 pesos to 450 pesos. And in such pristine condition! Gosh, amazing.

Now these 2 glasses are some of my recent acquisitions from the Super Sale Bazaar. Online, these would fetch around $150 to $275. Even more! So when I saw that these glasses are 250 pesos and 150 pesos respectively, I just couldn't say no! It's insane, I'm telling you. And it looks so vintage too!

These rings, however, ain't really that cheap. It's from Forever 21. But since the rings I usually buy hit 400 pesos to 700 pesos, I think it's only fair that I consider these cheap since it's 160 pesos for 3 pieces. Not bad. Not bad at all.

When I saw this leather envelope/clutch in a thrift store, I just had to have it. I've seen many of these kinds of bags in bazaars and I'm telling you, they're 600 pesos and above. So when I saw this and found out it's only for 200, I grabbed it and paid. It's now one of my fave bags because the leather is so soft. And it's not the type of leather that feels cheap. Amazing, really.

There are so many things in my closet that I got for a really cheap price. It's amazing how the universe seems to provide me with all the things I want but for a really, really, really, lower price. It's like I'm cheating fashion; the hundred dollar look for a huge fraction of the price. A lot of fashionable people will attest to this. So if we could find things like these, definitely so can you.

It's just a matter of looking at the right places.

And haggle, my dears. Haggle, haggle, haggle.

Super Sale Bazaar: The Outfits

 Day 1

I needed a look that can easily be transformed into my uniform for school since I had to go to class by 5 PM that day. So I looked for a white polo and put on my usual black jeans and boots. The olive green military jacket just went so well with the boots and aviators! Very military chic which I don't really do much often. The crown of thorns also made an appearance since it complimented the gold aviators I was donning. I think I might have been inspired by Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" and "Black Jesus (Amen Fashion)". Very appropriate, don't you think?

 Day 2

Decided to mix brown and blue today! It was a bit hot on the way to WTC so I put on my favourite PLAY shirt which was a collaboration between Comme Des Garcons and Matt Groening. The brown pants plus the brown brogues pretty much completed my look. The blazer from Zara came as an after thought since it was cold inside the tent. By the way, I made the star-studded blue leather wrap myself! I can be a bit of a craftsman sometimes when I'm bored. And can I just say? These vintage brogues are just fabulous. The scuff marks and the patina looks even better in person.

Day 3

For the third day, I opted to wear something a bit darker than usual. Got my denim shirt on with my fave motorcycle jacket. And here's a trivia: this is the very first jacket that got me hooked into jackets. Really! I had it since I was 2nd year high school and it has been borrowed by no less than 20 people already. I love it to bits. Anyways, the OS black bone tie really went well with my dark themed outfit so I had to put it on. The usual black jeans and the Doc Martens made it look tough, I think. I also put on two watches because I always find myself running out of time. So why not wear two watches? HAHAHA Kidding. I have always loved the appeal of multiple watches ever since I saw Giovanna Battaglia wear it. It's a personal touch, really. The LA fitted hat really "capped" the look for me. Now if only I could wear leather in this weather, I'd be a really happy kid.

Thanks to Nicole and Aivan for taking my outfit shots!
